Through the use of specially processed pins or larger tolerances between pins and bushings, the chain's lateral bending ability is achieved. The lateral backlash between the internal and external links is adjusted accordingly. According to different designs, the chain can be used within a curve radius of 250mm. Side bow chains are commonly used in conveying systems and require bending capabilities in addition to the usual joint flexibility.
